The Efforts of the Lacey and Larkin Frontera Fund to Stop Immigrant Harassment

The Lacey and Larkin Frontera Fund is a nonprofit that was established to facilitate the activities Arizona-based organizations that support immigrant rights.

The charity was started by Jim Larking and Michael Lacey, who are among the most acknowledged journalists in the region. They are also recognized for being co-founders of leading the newspapers, which are Village Voice Media and Phoenix New Times.

The duo was offered a $3.75 million settlement fee after the Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio incarcerated them on October 18, 2007. They sheriff and his deputies went to the homes of the two journalists in the middle of the night and arrested them for exposing a rogue jury through an article that they published. The grand jury had been protecting the sheriff by intimidating journalists who tried to uncover his wrong doings.

The grand jury once issued subpoenas that ordered the New Times magazine to release the names of all the people who read stories about Arpaio on its website. The sheriff abused his power, and this made Lacey and Larkin spend most of their years fighting to defend their Fifth Amendment rights.

The oppression made the journalists to sue the county government. Thier case was heard in the 9th Circuit of the United States Court of Appeals. They put the money that they awarded by the court in the Lacey and Larkin Frontera Fund.

The Colibrí Center for Human Rights is one of the organizations that have received support from the foundation. Michael and Jim are always committed to offering financial aid to organizations that support human, civil, and immigrant rights. 1. I think that the ACLU is using all its professional knowledge in the work that they do within the auspices of the law to act accordingly. Also with that in view essay pro sees to this that they are following the letter in making sure that they carry out their responsibilities. this will ensure a more co-habitable environment that will lead to better relationship across national boundaries.
