Nathaniel RU was born and brought up in Pasadena, California. In the year 2007, Nathaniel accomplished his BS in finance from Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business. He majors in restaurants and living a healthy life. He is an entrepreneur and co-founder of sweetgreen, a fast healthy salad joint that is popular for its delicious meal.
Nathaniel Ru, Jonathan Neman and Nicolas Jammet are the Co-founders of Sweetgreen in Georgetown. According to Neman, the love of food, the desire to solve problems and the need to invent better ideas made them a team. Unlike their parents who were prosperous entrepreneurs, their little knowledge about the food industry became the essential factor in starting their company.
Due to the scarcity of better resources, it encouraged them to work hard in providing long lasting and quality ingredients. They seeked guidance from restaurant vendors in Georgetown and were able to build their company using the knowledge they attained from school. The trio learnt about the values on how a product can influence a community, they also incorporated community service, thereafter launching Sweetgreen in Schools in the year 2010.
The program became popular and grew across the country, however, with rising challenges they decided to introduce an event called Sweetlife, a food and music festival, this brought masses of people together. Different musicians participate in this event, to mention a few, Calvin Harris, The weekend and Avicii Currently, the event has grown throughout the country. Practice what you preach, this is what Nathaniel Ru and his colleagues believe in. Therefore, they came up with values that encourage them to make sweetgreen prosper. The values are: keep it real, Make an Impact, Add the sweet touch, think sustainably and Win, win, win.
Sweetgreen’s aim is producing a delicate and fulfilling salad, this is what drives Nathaniel Ru, Jonathan Neman and Nicolas Jammet on the value of their product.
Over the years, healthy eating in different campuses around Georgetown has massively improved, and the trio were pleased with the results. They hope that the students will be able to venture into more options of better dining, therefore gaining more knowledge and knowing the necessity of living a healthy life.
